Yugacure is dedicated to the educational and cultural enrichment of our Garifuna children. We pride ourselves in facilitating the retrieval of our indigenous Garifuna culture to our historic homeland Yurumein (St.Vincent and the Grenadines), through our portable, educational, and cultural workshops.

Current Events

Yugacure will be hosting it's 5th annual Garifuna Cultural Retrieval workshop from August 10th to 26th. The program will take place at the Central Leeward High School in Peters Hope Barrouallie, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. This Year;s muscial concert will be held at Peace Memorial Hall on August 23rd at 3:00 pm.

The program will tackle garifuna drumming, dancing, songs, language, cooking and history.

The facilitators this year are

The 2015 YuGaCuRe Fundraising Dinner will be  held on April 4th 2015 at 671 Prospect Place in Brooklyn New York. Start time is 5:00 pm.

The Yurumein Garifuna Cultural Retrieval project needs your support. We invite you to celebrate with us while supporting this very worthy cause.

Enjoy this elegant formal dinner dance at The Friends of Crown Height located at 671 Prospect Place in Brooklyn. With cocktail hour, music, documentary and fine dining.

Donation: $75.00 with open bar

Trish St.Hill will be hosting a book launch party for her new book 'Tears of Exile" on January 25th at 671 Prospect Place, Brooklyn NY at 3:00 pm. Part of the proceeds from this event would go towards the YuGaCuRe 2015 workshop in St.Vincent and the Grenadines.

Donation: $30.00 (includes a signed copy of the book and food).


YuGaCuRe is Gathering information for a Trip to St.Vincent and the Grenadines in August of 2015. Details for this all inclusive trip is still being worked out. The trip is estimated to be  from August 17th to August 24th. Cost and other  details should be available shortly. Information can be gotten from Rosita Alvarez and Phyllis Cayetano in Belize.
