YuGaCuRe is a charitable organization that was formed in 2012 with Vincentian Author Trish St.Hill as Executive Director and Belizean singer/musician James Lovell as musical director. Erica Zuniga joiined the team as Choreographer in 2012 and Language director Christine Vernon joined the team in 2013. Through our unique portable, teaching, training and cultural re-enforcement workshops, the organization provides the children of Yurumein (St.Vincent and the Grenadines) with historical and cultural information that will ensure the continuation of their rich culture.

At Yugacure we pride ourselves in facilitating the retrieval of our indigenous culture to our homeland Yurumein (St.Vincent and the Grenadines).

Our staff members comprise of a diverse group of individuals with a wide range of skills and expertise. Our goal is to teach the children and young people of Yurumein about their history and culture thereby preserving, protecting and promoting our culture.
In 2001 the Garifuna language, dance and music were declared by UNESCO to be endangered and described as “Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity". Our language is in danger of becoming extinct. Our cultural retrieval efforts are helping to safeguard this amazing culture that has survived in exile for over 215 years.
